Funeral Notice – Gilliland, James T – Friends may call at Hippensteel Funeral Home, 5-8 p.m. today with Old Rails service at 7 p.m. Funeral service in Hippensteel Chapel, 11:30 a.m. Friday the Rev. Richard Case officiating. Interment Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Five grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren survive. Preceded in death by 5 brothers, 2 sisters. Those may contribute to Crestview United Brethern Church.

James T. Gilliland, 92 of 1309 Hartford St, died at 9;50 p.m. Tuesday Aug 8 in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center.  He had been a patient there for three weeks. Born on Feb 13, 1903 in Waveland, he attended Waveland HS. He lived in Lafayette for 58 years after moving from Crawfordsville.  Mr. Gilliland was a railroad conductor. He retired in 1967 from Monon Railroad after working there for 37 years. He was the oldest retiree of the Monon Railroad. He married G Irene Surber May 27, 1931 in Lafayette. She died Dec 6, 1985.  Mr. Gilliland was a member of Crestview United Brethren Church, Old Rails and Eagles Lodge. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. James (Lemoyne) Senesac of Lafayette/ a son, James D Gilliland of Placentia, Calif; two sisters, Mrs. Genevieve Purdue of Waveland and Mrs. Sue Pruitt of Crawfordsville. - kbz
